Live Sketch Station at the OMNi Centre

Fellow Live Illustrator Anna Rickard and I were called in to illustrate children, adults, brothers, sisters, babies, grannies and more at the Omni Centre in Edinburgh. The centre had undergone some fine renovation work and we were there to help celebrate its glow up.

We were contacted by Chilled Agency (and Events) to create illustrations at this sweet Live Sketch Station in the entrance to the theatre and food hall. We were there for 5 hours and must have created dozens of drawings. It was a great opportunity to meet the public, hear about people’s fine days out, and to even help one young lady celebrate her 25th birthday. We drew people on a work outing, friends meeting with their babies in prams, teens wanting a group illustration, parents and small children, couples, you name it, we drew it. I was surprised we didn’t have someone rock up with their little dog.

Working with another live illustrator was brilliant. I am so used to going to events solo, so having the opportunity to chat to someone else, swap markers and stories, was a lovely experience. And it was great to finally meet Anna as I had been following her wonderful work online for awhile now.
