Remote Illustration may be the answer for you
When the Sainsbury Wellcome Centre in London contacted me to create remote live illustration for one of the SWC lectures, I jumped at the chance to take on this work.
The speaker for the event was Julia Gillard, former prime minister of Australia and current board member of the Wellcome Trust. The Wellcome Trust are a rather big deal, with connections to the Wellcome Collection (I always pop in to see the latest exhibitions) and the Wellcome Centre. The Wellcome Centre’s focus is on neuroscience. Who can not help but be intrigued by the work in this area?
People were invited to attend in person and online. In-person tickets sold out so thankfully there was another option for tuning in. My ipad screen (hundreds of miles away in Edinburgh) was projected onto two large screens at the front of the lecture hall. My screen was also available to see for those watching the webinar. The team and I had run a tech check a few days before to ensure that all connections were working.
I could clearly see and hear the presentation and drew as she spoke.
So. What are the good points about using Remote Live Illustration for your conference? The benefits are many.
People from all over the world can tune in. You can show my screen in-person and online.
It’s a pretty green way to go. I haven’t used energy to travel by bus, car, train or plane.
Delegates are left with a visual record of what was covered in the conference. The visuals are more engaging than written notes, more exciting than powerpoint, and each drawing is unique to the presentation. No two illustrations are the same.
It’s inclusive. For those that have mobility issues, sharing the illustration online in real time can be a game changer. Everyone is invited to the table.
You can save a bit of cash. My Remote Live Illustration rates are slightly cheaper than in-person events. I work with organisations of many sizes, from 10 people in the office to hundreds. Budgets vary. This offers a flexibility to those that want an big impact at an event but might not be able to stretch to all the bells and whistles.
