Moving parts
Do you feel that life is made more fun when play is involved? Yes, we have serious messages to share and yes, what is going on in the world (name something…there are a lot of somethings) is important. Scary. Maybe even feeling a bit dire.
We have big messages to share. We want to make some positive changes around here. But how do you capture that one most precious thing we have to offer: Our attention. Imagine yourself at a conference, sitting in your seat, not yet knowing the people on either side of you. What do you do? Do you take out your phone and email, text, scroll? As the person hosting the conference, what do you want your attendees to do? Sit there feeling…bored? Mentally too busy to tap in? How do you capture people’s attention long enough to engage them in the bigger conversation.
Animation. Ok. It isn’t the answer to everything, but it could be the answer for your thing.
When I show up at an event I am Live Illustrating, I not only bring the tools of my trade, but I arrive with a placeholding screen for people to lock into before the whole show even starts. I have a little fun with the placeholder. It’s not just a title; it has moveable parts. Something zinging over there in the corner. An idea forming. Did that character blink.
