A BIG group of happy people

Last week I had a fabulous work day creating live illustrations at the SBCC annual expo. This was my second time capturing the event and just like last year, I was able to be in the room with some exciting speakers and attendees. Although I am there to draw the speaker’s content then occasionally whisk my boards away to a break out room, I find that a highlight is talking the the people in the space.

Watching a person draw the words and themes of the day can be captivating. People gravitate towards me, take photos of the work, ask me questions, reflect on what they’ve heard and how I drew it. One person said that my work looked so good, it was if AI had done it.

Hm. I suppose. But AI doesn’t have a charming personality and cannot look you in the eyes, nod with understanding, and tell you it likes your outfit today.
